Greg, You’re the perfect size for the Superhero, and it’s great going downriver. It will feel stable, forgiving, easy to turn, and FUN. It’ll feel a little more “creeky” than the older diesel, but easier to keep the bow up. The Zen 75 would be a closer comparison to the diesel. Either would do what [...]

Butler, Nothing changed with the design. But, as we have more and more people actually paddle them, we get feedback that allows us to constantly adjust our suggested weight ranges. I moved it back to 220, which I feel is more accurate. We’ve had lots of folks at 200-210 lbs paddle the Medium and be [...]

Am I missing something or did the weight range on the Karma medium get raised (now 240). How come? Was there a change in the shape/volume that enlarges the capacity? Thanks.

Yes it is the urban camo (custom ordered). I applied a product called SeaDek to the inside. Its a non-skid padding that works great. Especially for standing. The company is in the process of making it for many different kayak brands including the Cuda and Big Tuna. I received mine as a prototype to test [...]

Michaela, The hero is a fine choice for sure. Other options that would be a slightly more perfect fit would be a Zen 55, Funrunner 60, or Karma Small. These boats all do great at your size. The Zen would be sized the smallest of the 3, but is super quick and nimble. The Funrunner [...]

Ryan, The 2013 superstar is significantly bigger than a 2010 superstar, so if you have experience with that, you could compare. The 2013 superstar is ALMOST as big as a monstar, but not quite. The shape of the newer superstar might be easier downriver, despite the fact that it’s a smaller boat. You’d be best [...]

David, The 4 Fun certainly fits the bill for what you’re looking to do, but will allow you to playboat as well if that’s something you’d like to do. Another option would be a Zen 75, which is the perfect size for you, would be more forgiving downriver, but still fun surfing. The 4 Fun [...]

ThumbnailTraveled to the forgotten coast of Florida this past weekend to fish with a good friend of mine, and maybe do a little bit in a tournament with a huge payout and great food! Started tournament day slow, with nothing but small trout and small flounder. The fish were there, just not eating like the previous [...]

    B,
I’d go for the 2 Fun at your size. It’ll be very forgiving, dry, fun to surf, and a great size for you! I’m 145, and the 2 Fun felt a little small on me so it should be perfect for your size.

  • Adam,
IT should work with any boat with a solid grab handle on the deck :)

ThumbnailThis is my second of two posts on rigging my Cuda 14 with a fish finder/chart plotter combo unit. In my first post, I showed how I made a portable battery that can be moved from one yak to another. In this post, I will tell you how I mounted the unit. When my Dad had [...]
