Hey Todd! Easy! I’ve been pumping iron for year to build up the strength to DOMINATE that foam into the shape I want… No, actually it just helps to get the foam wet and start with just 3 shims per side before adding the 4th as they pack out. Wet foam slides easier so you [...]

Hey Ryan: The Zen 75 should be plenty big for most of your needs including overnights, you just have to get used to the lower sidewall and deck. It’s a radically different shape than most creekers – surfaces quickly on edge but more slowly when flat. Stephen Wright just overnighted Dinky Creek in the 65… [...]

Our ”blue steel’ mixes white black and blue and can end up in the way you described but every boat is different. The challenge with custom colors is that it’s not a print or a paint and the plastic spins differently each time. We can’t guarantee how yours will come out but if you send [...]

No blems sold from factory but dealers often have last year’s demos to sell.
You can always post in the ‘wanted’ section of BT for any used versions or talk to your dealer about a trade-in.
Good Luck!

Hey Todd – At your weight I would suggest Villain S or maybe Zen 75 but the Super-hero and Villain are certainly on the table too. I’m shorter – 5’9” and 170-175lbs and paddle the Villain S and Hero mostly but when the water gets high I love the new Zen 75 or Super-hero. The [...]

Hey Sebastian:
At 245 and 38” inseam I would guess either boat would work for you but the Super-fun might fit your feet better.
I’ve sent this to our big guy expert Colin Kemp for a more detailed analysis!
Expect and email soon.

EJ teaches a great warm up drill that includes some great maneuvers for honing your edging and carving skills any paddler can benefit from. No, as long as you can roll you’ll be set. Clay

Hey Todd: Depends what you want out of your boat… for surfing, downriver paddling, and massive loops go Large! You’ll want some extra padding to hold you firmly in the boat but it’s a pretty fast, forgiving boat once you have that much volume on the surface. On the other hand, for flatwater work, small [...]

Hey Joshua! As I recall Colin Kemp – our resident big guy – said he preferred the Villain to the Super Hero for full on creeking as it was a bit bigger or held it’s waterline past the top end more effectively. Personally I live the Super-hero and think it’s a HUGE but easy to [...]

Hey Rick! I guess it depends on what he’s going to be doing with it. Dane Jackson is now about 135 and did go with the Zen 65, but he’s using it as a creek boat – his only creek boat. I know Emily paddled both a 130 – 140 lbs and looked a bit [...]

4-Fun is slicier but longer.. not sure which easier in flatwater but it’s squirtier than the Super-star for sure. You should paddle to be sure as I haven’t compared these two boats and haven’t sat in an 07 Super-star since 09. 4-Fun was great in a hole but I haven’t had it on a big [...]

No 9′s or 10′s in the SE… bar is set HIGH in Salida CO, UK, Eternity maybe an 8 due to cold and flushability, some great ones in WV and elsewhere at natural flow whenever there’s no [...] -

This is Clay not EJ but I would call the old wave a 3+ given the challenging nature of throwing tricks and the penalty when you fail – broken boats on the rock, getting dragged over the rocks downstream, scraping your paddle up while you claw your way in between the lower pool and the [...]

At 110 you can paddle the min-tripper well but at my 170 it will nearly sink on small waves or lake chop. The 12 would be most comfortable for 2 as your child grows – its the one my dog likes best – but the 10 is lighter. Any small child can ride in our [...]

Hi Alexandre: I’m just your size – and I paddle both often. I prefer the Hero on low-volume steep creeks or when hike-in or hike-out makes weight and manageability on the shoulder top priority. The Hero sits a bit lower int he water for me than some creekers so overnight gear and speed are the [...]

It’s tough for one boat to river run like I like but be the perfect boat to learn flatwater cartwheels in as well… kinda like having a car that’s great for off-road use but corners like a sports car you are looking into performance aspects that require opposing ideas. River – runners have more volume [...]

Any time you go over the weight range, or close to it, you should likely paddle if first. i would need your inseam measurement of pant size to tell you if you would fit, as same height people can have a really different shape and experience. See if you can demo or at least pool-float [...]

The Dynamic Duo is a great all-around boat and is fast for it’s length, however longer touring type boats will be much faster for flatwater purposes. The stability and durability are overkill for flatwater yet won’t hinder your opportunity for fun so long as you plan your outings accordingly.. not 21 mile channel crossings but [...]

Not sure on girth but I know I use a sling system and it’s as simple as mounting the 2 slings further out towards the end of the boat till they fit…. If your sling is similar it should fit just about any kayak but the middle of the daytripper is VERY wide and big. [...]
